Hi,

we need some advice and clarification about the future of ScreenOS and our options to
migrate to JUNOS.

We are using SSG520M models, so they should be upgradable.

Will we see much improvements and ongoing development of ScreenOS, or will there merely
be maintenance upgrades in the future?

What are our migration options? Does it make sense to plan for migration in the next
couple of months?

I can see on the Juniper website that only JUNOS 8.5 is supported for the SSG M models. Will
the M models be able to run newer JUNOS releases such as 9.5 and 10.0, or should we plan
to invest in SRX gateways?

Thanks for your opinions.

I wouldn't do the upgrade yet if I had a working config with a SSG (ScreenOS). I like where they are going with JunOS, the SRX boxes, etc. Give it a few more months or maybe a year if you already have working gear in place/production.

From what I have heard they still have a roadmap for ScreenOS with lots of development still going on.

there are some things you need to keep in mind ofc. (like ALG, etc).
