'interface' under the 'protocols vpls' section
« on: March 29, 2017, 09:00:25 am »
Hi all,

Recently I've found a strange configuration for VPLS in Juniper. As you can see below the interface statement is placed under the vpls intself, but it is also placed under the protocols vpls section.

Code: [Select]
vpls_111{
     instance-type vpls;
-> interface ge-1/0/0.211 ;
     protocols {
         vpls {
->             interface ge-1/0/0.211 ;
                 encapsulation-type ethernet-vlan;
                 no-tunnel-services ;
                 vpls-id 5193;
                 mtu 9000;
                 neighbor 10.20.30.40 ;
                 }
        }
    }

According to the information from Juniper site, it's not valid. But that configuration works fine.

Is there any difference between such interface statements? What do you guys think about it ?
