Image in Sign-In Page to big though the uploaded .jpg was very small?

Maybe its a stupid question - but i dont have any idea.

I created a corporate Image (.jpg) for a Sign-In Page.
This picture is 70kb big.

But when i upload the picture, and download the picture with a rightclick on the image from my IVE login website, and save it on my desktop, its 450kb big and its a .bmp.
Thats to big for a website image, and it takes to long to load the login page.

How it comes that this image is so big though the uploades picture was so small?
How can i change this behaviour?
